Virtual doula services
As a doula, my job and...
my passion is to serve you as you start your journey into motherhood.
How can I virtually support you in birth & postpartum?
There are so many unknowns with birth and even more during this time of COVID-19. I am dedicated to walking with you through this time, making sure that you are informed and have the emotional support you need.
How it works:
I provide educational and emotional support for you and your partner. For each of my clients, this looks a little different as each of my clients have different goals for their births.
As your Doula, I will help make sure you understand your options for labor, help you process and make the best decisions for birth and support you in making those things possible as much as is medically possible. My goals as a birth doula is number one, help you have the best chance at getting the birth you are desiring and number two, if that doesn’t happen then to make sure that you feel good with each and every decision made along the way. I desire my clients to walk away from their birth experience with a positive experience full of fond memories.
“Dude-la” (for the partners)
Imagine the birth of your child where you are able to focus completely on your partner, not worry about the new sounds and sights or if what you are doing is the ‘best’ for the new mom and if you are remembering everything from the books you read and classes you took. As a doula, my job isn’t to replace you but to support you. I will help lead you to support your new mom as much as you feel comfortable. I will also have my experience and training to help provide extra tools and bring an environment of relaxation and calmness.
Doula comes from ancient Greek meaning “a woman who serves.” It has now come to mean someone who is trained and experienced in helping women through pregnancy, labor and delivery, and postpartum.
Research shows that mothers who have a Doula experience the following benefits:
- 31% decrease in the use of Pitocin
- 28% decrease in the risk of C-section
- 12% increase in the likelihood of a spontaneous vaginal birth
- 9% decrease in the use of any medications for pain relief
- 14% decrease in the risk of newborns being admitted to a special care nursery
- 34% decrease in the risk of being dissatisfied with the birth experience
VIRTUAL DOULA SERVICES
My hope for your birth is that you find a doula that you are comfortable with and love. You are about to allow someone to be joined with you on a sacred journey of becoming a mother. This is why I find it an honor when I am asked to be someone’s doula, and also why I offer free consultations, so we have a chance to get to know each other before deciding if we are a good fit for each other.
How does this work?
VIRTUAL PRENATAL VISIT
Once we have had a consultation and you have decided to hire me, we will have two more virtual prenatal visits, around 34 and 37 weeks of pregnancy. During this time I will help you look at your birth preferences, go over some comfort measures and talk about procedures for contacting me once you are in labor.
At 38 weeks until the baby is born I will be on-call for your birth. Once you are in labor I will be available for video chat, phone calls and texts at any point you need and wish. I will stay connected virtually with you all through labor and delivery and make sure you are settled with your new bundle of joy; breastfeeding as well, if you so desire we disconnect.
I will also schedule a virtual postpartum and be available to you via phone and email for any questions after the baby is born.
